Don was the founding CEO of Child Health Corporation of America (CHCA) , the nation's largest alliance of leading children's hospitals. He led the for-profit cooperative for 25 years. Don inspired the development of a range of products and services designed to reduce costs, increase revenue and enhance the competitive position of children's hospitals. Known for his strategic thinking and unstoppable energy, Don was the motivating force behind CHCA's innovations in group purchasing and supply chain management, pediatric data management, performance improvement and patient safety.
He is considered a positive and constructive leader, particularly in the group purchasing industry where he has been a long-standing member of the Board of Directors for the Health Industry Group Purchasing Association and a founding member of the Healthcare Group Purchasing Industry Initiative (HGPII) Steering Committee. Don directed HIGPA's public policy area and is an avid champion of a Code of Conduct for healthcare GPOs.
As entrepreneur, Don brings new companies to life. He has formed several start-up ventures, participated in ten venture capital partnerships and 35 co-investments. Don served on numerous corporate Boards and continues to hold a range of advisory roles within the private equity community.
